At the Marine enquiry into the wreck of the Easby, Captain Wallace testified that ho instructed the second mate to call him when Everard light was abeam. The mate did so, but as he had very little sleep for three days he must have dozed off again, aud the next thing he knew was the vessel bumping. He had been continuously on duty for 22 hours. Masters, the second mate, said he called the captain but told him she was five miles off the light and afterwards it was found he had made a mistake.
