THE PREFERENCE QUESTION.
Press Association—Copyright. London, April 5.
Mr Ramsay MacDonald, at Sheffield, declared that all resolutions published in the press as coming before the Colonial Conference seemed to have been made in London or prompted by London, not colonial opinion. During the election campaign Mr Deakin had hardly mentioned Imperial preference. If the colonies are so anxious that Britain shall starve her people to give the colonies benefits in the Home markets, it was extraordinary that the subject did not figure in the Australian elections. They wanted to be quite friendly with the Colonies, but wore not going to allow a handful of political wirepullers to run the Empire in the interests ot landlords and capitalists.
