MARTON TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
A special meeting of Martou School Committee was held last evening. •Present —Mr J. J. McDonald (chair), Rev. D. Gordon, Messrs G. M. and S. J. Davenport, Richardson, Morgan, Little aud Dolby. ■ Mr Varney, Director of Technical Instruction, was' present to give information as to tho arrangements for technical classes.
It was proposed that the Technical School Committee should consist of tho School Committee and representatives of Rangitikei County Ooun. oil, Martou Borough Council, Marton Branch of Farmers’- Union and the Headmaster of Martou School. In order to proceed with business the School Committee, with power to add to their number, were temporarily appointed. Mr Wilkes was appointed local director.
It was decided to begin classes iu dressmaking aud millinery on March 16th under Miss Bohan as instructor. When tho school is erected it is proposed also to hold classes in agricultural science, cookery, carpentry, book-keeping, shorthand, commercial arithmetic, commercial correspondence,' typewriting, English and ih other subjects should a demand arise for them.
