The authorities are hopeful of checking the further spread of tho plague. Since the citizens are now fairly aroused to tire danger, they are co-operating in preventive
measures. The matron at the Kempsey Hospital has contracted plague. Brisbane, February 7. A man has been attacked witli plague at Kangaroo Valley. There are two other suspicious cases.
