CALLIOPE DOCK ACCIDENT.

Press Association. Auckland, Jauary 7. An inquiry touching the accident at the Calliope dock during the docking of the Mamari, by which three men lost their lives, was resumed to*day, when the evidence of the captain and officers of the vessel combatted the theory offered by Mr Hamer, engineer to the Auckland Harbour Board, that the bow rope of tlfo yessc)- was unduly strained at the critical time, and pulled foYward the hull, thus causing' the accident. They said the rope was never dangerously taut.
