CAHMBER OF COMMERCE.
MONDAY'S MEETING. The Pukckohe Chamber of Commerce met in Mr. V. S. Roberts' office on MSlnday evening when there were present: Messrs R. F. Webster (president), H. Dell, R. G. V. Fear, C. Cooper. K. L. Cannell, G. T. Witt, and V.i S. Roberts (secretary). - Apologies for absence were received from Messrs F. Perkins, Bonner and J. Grainger.
■loose's Bush. Some time ago the Chamber wrote to the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. W. P. Massey, with a request that the Government take steps to create Roose's Bush a scenic reserve In reply thereto, Mr. Massey stated that nothing could be done until next session of Parliament, when the matter would bo considered. —Received. PROPOSED HOSPITAL. DR. VALINTINE TO VISIT PUKEKOHE. The advisability of having a hos-[ pita] erected at Pukckohe was recently urged upon the Director General of Hospitals, i>r. Valintine. In reply. Dr. Valintine pointed out that aa hospital had been erected at Wai-| uku, and this would be sufficient | j to meet the requirements of the district for some time to come. The secretary (Mr. V. S. Roberts) reported that he had replied pointing; out to Dr. Valintine that he evidently! did not know- the district, or he would not have made the statement | that an hospital at Waiuku would meet with the requirements of Puke--kohe and district. On behalf of the j Chamber he invited the doctor to visit Pukekohe. A few days later he received a reply stating that he would, visit Pukekohe shortly, and it is ex-j pocted he will be in the district in the course of a few days. When the Director-General of Hospitals' arrives the matter of sewerage for the district will be put before him, and the secretary was instructed to write to the Borough "Council soliciting its cooperation in the matter, and to sup piv tnc necessary data. Messrs. Webster, Dell and Roberts were appointed a sub-committee to make arrangements for entertaining the visitor. SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the Chamber will be held on Monday next when matters in connection with the forthcoming municipal elections will be discussed.
