EXECUTIVE MEETING. The Executive of Franklin A. and P. Society met on Friday night. .Present : Messrs J. N. Massey (President), C. Hodgkin- : son, C. F. Shipherd, S. Shipherd, i J. Reynolds, C. McCormick, W. I J D. Moore, R. Schlaepfer, C. K. ; Lawrie, -las. Pollock, F. J. Mori row. W. J. D. Sharp, F. Ballard, 'J. H. Keith, J. Croshie, Jas. i Wyllie, Jas. Roulstou, H. Bockett, and D. R. Hamilton (secretary). In reply to the Society s request for special trains and excursion fares for the Autumn Show, the Railway Department intimated that the matter was , under consideration. i The Pulcekolie Athletic Club I was granted the use of hurdles for its sports meeting to bo held on Saturday next. I The District Engineer of the Railway Department advised that the subway at the southern end of the station would be completed in time for use for the i forthcoming Autumn Show. t The matter of arranging for I catering was left in the hands of . the Secretary, President and Mr Jas. Roulston, who were instructed to call for tenders. This year a lunch will be provided in lieu of sandwiches previously. ; I It was decided to offer the '. ! privilege of selling spirituous ! liquors at auction at Messrs . It was decided to invite the Governor-General (Viscount Jellicoe, Admiral of the Fleet) to attend the Show, while it was also agreed to send invitations to the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey), Hon. C. J. Parr, Sir Fran,k Laing. and Messrs R, F. Boland and J. A. Young, M's.P.
It was reported that the Prime Minister had donated £ls 15s to the prize fund, which was to be allocated to the dairy cow class, and draught horse sections. On the motion of Messrs Roulstou and Pollock, it was decided to write and thank Mr Massey for his substantial donation. About fifty new members were elected.
Mr Jas. Roulsfcon reported that the recent Gymkhana had been a financial success. The secretary read an interim balancesheet, showing that the receipts amounted to £B3 Us (id, and the expenditure £sl 18s Gd, leaving a credit balance of £25 18s (id, which was considered highly successful by all members. Prizes in connection with the event will he paid in the course of a few days. Accounts amounting to £lOl were passed for payment.
