GENERATING ELECTRICITY.
A PATUMAHOE SCHEME.
At Wednesday's meeting of the Franklin County Council, Mr. E. C. CufF mentioned that there was some talk of harnessing the Patumahoc falls for generating electricity. He understood that the council had aiven permission to the Waiuku Electricity Company to extend their electric mains as far as the Patumahoe Hotel. The Patumahoe people wanted the boundary between the two schemes to be the riding boundaries. There was plenty of power to supply the whole of Patumahoe with electricity, as well as to serve numbers of milk•ing machines. They had reports on the proposed Patumahoe scheme, and from these it "was found that 75 kilowatts, equal to 100 horse-power, were already had an option over'the area, it would absolutely kill the Patumahoe scheme. They could have the Patumahoe scheme in operation in 12 months' time. The chairman stated that the Waiuku company had a six months' option, and the council could not take any further action until the time expired.
