ACCESS TO KARAKA STATION.
PROPOSED ROAD AND SUBWAY.
For some time past the question of providing an access road to the Kara'iu, railway station has engaged the attention of the Franklin County Council. We understand that it is also proposed to construct a subway.
At Wednesday's meeting of the council Mr. May, a land owner, near the station, offered to give an area of about five acres for the road tc join the main Waiuku Drury road, in exchange for about one and a-half acres of a present road in the vicinity, provided the council arranged for the fencing. If the council supplied the material he would provide the necessary labour. The chairman said the offer was a very reasonable oi<e, and he ,moved that the council accept the dedication of the road, but that it would 'jot accept responsibility of fencing ■aid formation.
C'r. Charles seconded, end the mo tion was carried.
