IN AID OF TECHNICAL SCHOOL, j
Ad a result of the conccri held in the Premier Hall foil Tun day the Pukekohc and district Tech nical High School funds should b< considerably augmented. There wa; a large attendance, the seating accommodation being taxed to its u' mos capacity. The concert ilseli proved thoroughly enjoyable, and exceeded any previous effort by loca talent. During the first half item, were rendered by the Pukekohc or chttstry. Mrs. George. Miss Lilliar Braithwaitv, Messrs. Garland am Todd, and a vycal quartette consist ing of Messrs. CI. Blake, A. Young, V> T. Jones and J as', Roulston, while ar instrumental quartette, comprising Messrs Bear, Wilson. Murgatroyd am Middlemiss rendered pleasing items. The star performer was MisLillian Braithwaitc. a well-known Auckland vocalist, who proved hersel' a champion. Miss -Braithwaitc possesses a maglifflcent rjcli contralto voice, and she had little difficulty in captivating the large audience. The second 'half of the programm'e saw the first appearance oi' the | Great Wild West Revue Company, a, combination of purely local male talent. The scene was a Western saloon, and the items consisted of ragtime numbers. Mr. H. V. Gribble opened with a recitation entitled. '"Back woods Pennanco." The other members of the company rendered the following items:—Mr. W. T. Jones, "How are You Going to Keep Them," and "I Wonder Who is Under the Stairs with You To-night;" Mr. P. Getffge. "I Say She Does" and "Yaddy,, Kaddy. Kiddy Kaddy Koo;" Messrs'. C. 80-n----ner and E. Clarke, "Ragging Though the Rye" and "When Padeqewski Plays:" Mr. J. Wallen, "Jadda Jadda' and "My Precious Baby;" Mr. A. Oldham, "Abey Abev. My Boy," and halfway through the item he was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Mr C. Bonn?' - . Mr. H. V. Gribble of ficiated as the parson, and at the con elusion of the ceremony read a "tele gram" received from the Government that the Marriage Laws had 'been so amended that the wedding was invalid. Mr. Stan. Gribble also assisted the company. An hour's entertainment, rich in harmony, humour ami comie„situa.tiojis, concluded with foot choruses uy the company—"Beauti ful Ohio." "Bubbles." "I Wontle Whose Under the Stairs With Yon To-night." and "Till We Meet Again." The success of the second half of the entertainment, was mainly due 1 t-»j the accompanist. Mr. K. Cannell,'who! on al| occasions materially assisted j the solists. He proved himself an j able pianist, and deserves a word of' praise for the manner in which he l controlled the performers.
