Businessmen in some centres have profited by the fact that many newspapers ha\;e been forced to amalgamate for the reason that whereas they used to be obliged to advertise in two district papers in order to reach the readers of both journals, they' can now achieve the same purpose by advertising in one paper only. There is also the advantage that one good, firmly-established newspaper carries greater weight and prestige, and gives better advertising value than can two poorly equipped and struggling concerns.
