The sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. C. Clark, S. Clews, G. H Armstrong and R. H. McGough, set _ up to inspect the property with a . view of submitting an ■ estimate of laying down a racing track, reported as follows: The committee having inspected j, the club's property and more par- f , ticularly the proposed course, have 0 come to a decision that it is in the t Interests of the club to lay down a b sfx-furlong course. The committee isj.jof opinion that by light ploughing and well discing and levelling G by means of a drag a first-rati - course could be- made at a very moderate expense. The committee recommend six-furlong course 50ft. wide he constructed as' soon at i possible. The committee estimated the cost to construct the course at described above, grassed, well rolled l also ring-fenced, would cost approxi u mately £l5O. If this work roulil bt v . got on with at once, the committee" * saw no reason why a race meeting c could not be held about the end ol c February or March, 1921, as the grass ° if sown early will, by being wel 1 jj rolled, come away quickly, and wouk J be sufficiently strong to allow *foi l one day's races. ' The chairman mentioned that about five of the committee inspected tin (i property and estimated the cost ol preparing the course at about £l5O including ring-fencing, lie thoughi that if a non-totalisator meeting wa: held it would prove a linancial sue i cess. The chairman stated that he hat estimated the cost of running a meet ing as follows: Receipts, gates £225: . vehicles and horses, £2O; 3 booths | £75; sale of race-cards, £100; nomina \ tions and acceptances, £250. Total £O7O. Expenditure, four races at £4O : £1«0; three races at £3O, £9O; advei tising and printing race-cards, £llO track and sundry expenses, £l6l. To tal, £521, leaving a credit balance r> £159. Mr. Clews said the committee in tended to lay down the track, am nio-l of it would include the Coursi propei when the full-sized course wa laid down. In answer to Mr. Brown, the chaii man s>ald lh« course would be fence to pn ■■•: I >attle from affecting th< temporary track. The chairman said that if a tiacl was foimed. five or six Ellersli trainers would come to Pukekohe, a: they were sick and tired of Ellerslit They would receive track fees fron each horse usinfj the track, and : fair amount of revenue would be re ceived through this source. Mr. C. K. Lawrie move the repor' be adopted, and in doing so congrn tulated the committee on the report Mr. West seconded, and the motio' was carried unanimously. Non-Totalisator Meeting. Mr. Raynor moved and Mr. Gardes seconded that a non-totalisator meet ing be held. 4& The mot on wak'tirriej unanimo sl\ ' without a discussion, members be ing of the opinion that a meeting should be held. The chairman urged members to pull together and work assiduously to make the non-totalisator meeting a brilliant success, lie thanked mem bers for carrying the proposal, and trusted that the meeting would be an unqualified success. Refreshments were handed round fend duly appreciated. Recitations were .rendered by Messrs J. O'Malley, A. Wray and Lynch. A most enthusiastic meeting terminated about 10.45 p.m.
