CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce was held in the Borough Council offices last night, the president (Mr. R. F. Webster) occupying the chair. Clean Foods.
Discussion took place in reference to cleanliness of food sold, members considering that full precautions should be taken to keep all foods for sale free from exposure to flies and dust, both in shops and while on delivery. Borough Council to be written to on the matter.
New Members. Messrs. G. Littlejohn and G. T. Witt were elected new members. Continuous Telefrfcone Services. The secretary brought up the matter of the lack of continuous tele phone service in Pukekohe. Othe: towns of lesser size had such a service for years past. Members considered that a continuous service, besides being of convenience to the business people, would be a great boon to private subscribers in cases ol sickness. The matter was held in abeyance until next meeting. The "Duck Pond." Complaint was made about the "duck pond'' at the upper end of King Street, and other depressions lower do\vn. -Borough Council to be written tg.
Proposed Bridge. The delay in regard to a decision in reference to the proposed new bridge across the railway line way adversely commented on. Motor Driving. The secretary was instructed to write to the Borough Council, drawing attention to non-observance of the rules of the road by car drivers.
Sfreet Cleaning. The secretary was instructed to write to the Borough Council, suggesting that King Street should be swept twice a week, and be done early in the morning. Cattle on Footpaths. The damage to footpaths by cattle was referred to, especially in respect to East and Harris Streets. Borough Engineer. Discussion ensued in reference to the matter of a borough engineer,!

engaged. The secretary was instructed to forward a recommendotion to the Borough Council accordingly. Roose's Bush.
Mr. H. Curd stated that Roose's bush was about to i)e cut down, which would be a great pity. A member said he understood that CHUM) would buy the 10 acres on which the bush centred for the borThe president said that Mr. Rooso was approached about the matter at different times, but he had twice I raised the price. j The secretary was instructed to j write to the Borough Council, asking that a meeting be convened to consider the matter of acquiring the pro-j perty. /
