ELECTRICITY GENERATING PROPOSAL
TO HARNESS HUNUA FALLS.
At last night's meeting of the Papakura Town Board a proposal for generating electricity was received. Advocacy of harnessing the Hunua Falls for a hydro-electric scheme was contained in a circular letter from the Clevedon branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union. The letter stated that the prospect of getting electricity from the Government scheme for iocal reciuirements within a reasonable time was not at all hopeful, and consequently it was thought advisable at a recent meeting of the branch that a move should '\9 made bv those locally interested to harness the Hunua Falls. The writer suggested a conference of the Manukau and Franklin County Councils, Pukekohe Borough Council, and the Manurewa, Papakura, Papatoetoe, Tuakau, and Waiuku Town Boards to discuss the matter. . It was decided to reply stating the board heartily supported the movement, and that it would send a delegate to attend the conference when it was called.
