MR. AND MRS. PLEYDELL FAREWELLED.
An enthusiastic farewell social was tendered to Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Pleyclell in the Patumahoe Hall on Wednesday evening, when a large crowd gathered, to bid farewell to this popular couple. In asking Mrs. Pleydell's acceptance of a gold bar brooch, Mr. J. Graham made special mention of the willingness of Mrs. Pleydell to assist in all cases of sickness around the district. "Whenever I have heard anyone was ill and ask who is looking after the sick reply is invariably, 'Oh, Mrtt,dHfeflell,'" said Mr. Graham, '"and her JMfelly, sympathetic nature has endeared ner with ;il| .-die has come in contact with." Mr."Graham, on behalf of the people or Patumahoe, presented Mr. ritfdeil with.a gold watch suitably Uifcrib-d. The speaker extolled the fjfcsi'sta'icp given by Mr. Pleydell to u\\ district matters, particularly as
''lmirm in of the School Committee. me usaful and valuable assistance i iven l.y Mr Pleydell to all the sporting fraternity, be it cricket, football, hockey or billiards would long be remembered bv all local people, and Mr Pleydell's advice ,w.ould be greatly missed.
Mr, Pleydell, in a brief speech, suitably replied. Dancing was indulged in till the early lours, music being supplied by Messrs. J. Hunter, extras by Misses Pulton and Howard. Midnight brought forth a sumptuous supper, the hot cups of tea being particularly' acceptable to all non-dancers, for outside Jack Frost was busy, and the homecomers were met with a mantle of white glistening in the moonlight.
