DEATH AT WAIUKU

MRS. R. T. REID.

AN ESTEEMED RESIDENT.

Waiuku and district suffered a distinct loss this morning by the death of Mrs. R. T. Reid, wife of Mr. R. T. Reid (chairman of the Waiuku Town Board, and Waiuku Riding member of the Franklin County Council). The late Mrs. Reid was a very popular and highly-esteemed resident, and was always to the forefront in assisting various worthy causes. She was secretary of the Waiuku branch of the Red Cross Society ever since its inception locally, and during the war the deceased lady did a great deal of work in this respect, her efforts being zealous and unremitting. A similar spirit was shown by her in many other spheres, in which the absence of her cheerful mind, energetic help, and organising ability, and courteous disposition will leave a void hard to fill. The deceased, who had been ailing for a long time past, was a daughter of Mr. H. E. Poulteney, of Hobart (Tasmania), and was 36 years of age. The funeral takes place in the Church of England Cemetery at Waiuku on Thursday, at 2 p.m.
