POULTRY, PIGEONS AND CANARIES
FRANKLIN WINTER SHOW. AN UNIQUE EXHIBITION. Idle people of a speculative turn of mind have spent hours debating whether the hen produced the egg or the egg produced the ben at the dawn of creation. More practical people save their breath to cool fried eggs. There is no doubt that the tiny egg has attained a position of great commercial importance. Like everything else, the cost of producing eggs has increased, so everybody is either directly or indirectly interested in poultry. It therefore behoves everybody to visit the great poultry exhibition at the Franklin Winter Show. At it will be found hens, ducks, geese, turkeys, pigeons, parrots, canaries and other cage birds. The schedule is iust printed, and comprises about 425 classes. In fact it promises to be the best exhibition of poultry, etc., ever held in the Franklin* district.. The North Island Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association have donated two championships—one for utility Black Orpingtons and one for Plymouth Rocks. Pigeons and canaries are also being catered for. Pigeon breeding as well as being n hobby may also become a patriotic duty! During the war homer pigeons rendered valuable service thousands of times to our troops. In fact the Winter Show promises to be both educative and entertaining, so that every person within a reasonable radius should buy a season ticket, which will cost four shillings, and attend every day. Whoever stays away will regret it everafter.
