INFECTIOUS DISEASES

PUKEKOHE CASES. NOTIFICATION DEMANDED. BY BOROUGH COUNCIL. Local cases of infectious disease, 1 presumably typhoid, were referred to at Wednesday's meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council. It was stated that the source of infection was probably not the place at which the patients had been working, but in an entirely different direction. It was believed that five Pukekohe men were ill in Auckland Hospital suffering from this disease. The council decided to write to the Health Department, asking for a report on the matter, and also to demand that the Health Department, the doctor attending any given case, and the householder concerned shall inform the local authority (Borough Council) wh?n any case of infectious disease is found. This information had to be supplied in coalmpliance with the law.
