EXPORT OF TIMBER
"A CRYING SHAME." At Monday night's meeting of the Manurewa Town Board, Mr Butterworth said it was a crying shame that timber was allowed to be exported, when there was not enough to meet local demands. He, as a builder, knew the state of the situation. It was absolutely impossible to purchase enough timber to build * shed. He knew timber was being exported in Urge quantities, and he thought the board should sol'cit the co-operation of other local bodies with a view of urging upon the Government the desirability of prohibiting the exportation of timber. Eventually the matter was deferred until next meeting. In the meantime Messrs. Butterworth and Corin were delegated to make enquiries, obtain data, and report at next meeting.
