J MONTHLY MEETING. -Jf - (Staff Reporter). ' " The monthly meeting of the Manurewa Town Board was he'd ; on Monday night, when there were present: Messrt. C. H. Lupton (chairman), Enos S. Pegler, G. Smith, E. J. Butterworth, P. W, Wood, T. J. Corin, Geo. Coxhead, and the clerk, Mr. H. Kay. intraae* Wanted. Mr. E. Harris wrote requesting an entrance to his proeprty on Hill Road.—lt was decided Ujeply stating that the board do the work. tfjfr. Harris suftjtitf fipig. Recreation QrenndL J. C. Spedding wrote, confirming bis offer of three months option for sections 26 to number, if required, at £lift per acre, the road to be dedicated to enable him to transfer the same. On acceptance of the offer by the board, authorised by a roll of ratepayers, he would agree to form and metal the road in accordance with the board's specification within 12 months of acceptance. —Received. .
Drainage Complaint, f With reference to the drainage at Manurewa, the district health officer, Dr. H. G. H. Monk, advised that an inspector reported that a nuisance was caused by house drains being connected to the storm w2ti»r sewer. He requested to know who gave permission to the property ownera to connect house drains to the storm water sewer. If no permission hadbeen granted for the work, the house owners must cut off their drains and make other arrangements for dispos■f ing of sewerage water. Ttyf. only ' other alternative was for Board to place traps where.Squired and continue the pipes until they discharge in the creek.—With reference to the above, the clerk replied that the matter was one for the Manukau County Council.(For the information of our readers, we may state that the matter was discussed by the Manukau County Council at its, last meeting, when it was decided to request the respective property owners to make provision for their drainage, and to cease draining into the storm water sewer.) Accounts amounting to £47 19s 4d were approved and passed for payment. The clerk reported that the overdraft at the present time was £3O. Over half of the rates had been collected. Noxious Weeds. On the motion of Messrs. Smith and Pegler, it was decided to take the necessary steps to have gorse included in the schedule as a noxiousweed. Post Office. The chairman reported having in terviewed the Postmaster-General with reference to the Manurewa Post Office, and also tliat he had received intimation from the Prime Minister, the Right Hon. W. F.
