PAPATOETOE.

TOWK BOARD MEETING A meeting of the above Board was held on Tuesday night. Present: Messrs J. Watson (chairman), A. Hall, A. U. Timewell, J. Death, 8 McCullough, J. Bryant, F. Mulcock, and 11. E. i'rnest, clerk. A deputation from the School Committee waited upon the Board re sanitary service in connexion with the school. Mr Waters speaking on behalf of the Committee, said the Education Board would not do anything towards putting in septic tanks, they (the committee] thought something ought to be done at once, as the school attendance was rapidly increasing, there being cow 350 scholars on the roll, and they were afraid if any epidemic w ere to break out it would be a very serious matter. The chairman said he thought they should engage an engineer to to report upon the best place in which to build a septic tank, so that when . drainage scheme was put in hand t!iey would only have to extend. Mr Hall maved that in the meantime they approach the Otahuhu Council and see if they would deal with the night soil from the school. —Carried. Mr Waters also brought forward the matter of re erection of the shelter shed that had been removed from the old station for use by the school children as a shelter for their ponifls. As the Education Board had offered the committee £ls towards the r«-eution, upon the Town Board granting them the shed Messis McCullough, Hall, Death, wore elected a committee to go inta the matter, with power to act. Mr lleid asked the Board if it would attend to the footpath in front of the school, as after heavy rain the childron had to wade through water to get into the school grounds— Works Committee to attend to the matter.

A lottor was road from Mr Entrican, Deputy Mayor of Auckland, thanking the residents of Papatoetue for the splendid reception given to the sailors from the battleship New Zdaland. Owing to the numerous buildings that are being erected in Rapatoetoe at the present time it was decided to appoint Messrs Bryant and Mulcock, as a building committee It was suggested that the time was ripe for approaching the Railway Department for an improved passenger service between the suburbs and Auckland. Mr Watson moved that the clerk write to the Otahuhu Borough Council, and the Town Board of Papakura and Manurewa, and suggest a joint petition to the Department on the above lines.—Carried

TENNIS SOCIAL A very enjoyable social was held in the Town Hall by the Tennis Club on Wednesday Bth. With a good floor and good music everything went with a swing.
