MAIN TRUNK EXPRESS
To Stop at Pukekohe n Sundays Intimation was received by the District Traffic Manager of the NewZealand Railways, Auckland section, on Friday to the effect that on Sunday mornings the Main Trunk express from Wellington would stop at Pukekohe, and also that the south-bound Main Trunk express would stop at Pukekohe on Sunday ovenings. The change will bo appreciated by the local public to the very fullest, and will permit of persons desiring to spend Sunday in the Queen City, to do so. They can now return home on Sunday nights by the express which passes through here at 10 minutes past eight o'clock. Representations regarding the stop were made by His Worship the Mayor, Mr C. K. Lawrie, during his recent visit to Wellington, on Municipal Conference business. The Mayor interviewed the Prime Minister on the subject, and urged that the request be acceded to. The Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce moved in the matter on several occasions and recently the secretary (Mr V. S. Roberts) received a letter from the Premier stating that the matter would be given fullest consideration.
