PAEROA-POKENO RAILWAY

League at Pokeno Coal, Metal, and Lime-shell Deposits Agitation for Grant

At a mooting of residents held in the Pokeno Valley Hall, September •25 to discuss matters regarding the Paeroa Pokeno railway Mr Samuel O'Leary very ably occupied the chair.

Mr G F. Mclnnes, convenor of the meeting, gave a very interesting address on the fertile land the said railway would serve, and the very valuable deposits of metal for roadmaking, and hnuse-building, also the coal deposits to be tapped, and the shell to be procured for lime manufacture, etc. A branch of the Auckland Railway League was duly formed, thirty members enrolling. It was res.lved to use every effort to get this very necessary line authorised, and a substantial sura placed on the estimates for the same.

A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Mclnnesn and S. O'Leary.
