WELCOME HOME
The Public Hall, Tuakau, was the scene of much gaiety on Wednesday evening last, the occasion being a welcome home to the following recently returned soldiers. Messrs H and E. Lee, A Smeed, C. Revell, G. Prince, and F Ryder. Apologies for non-attendance were received from Messrs L. Stevenson, S Go van and J. Dromgool, who were unable to be present. The chairman of the Town Board, Mr Dynes Fulton, presided and on behalf of the Tuakau citizeus, extended a cordial and hearty welcome to the boys. It gave one aud all great pleasuie to sea them back home once more he added. The initial portion of the evening was devoted to a musical programme. A glee party consisting of fifteen, contributed itt>ras the soloists being Misses Revell and Foulkes Mesdames Harrison and Tapper, and Messrs C. and F. Ryder, H. and E. Lee, and E. Revell. The items were much enjoyed. The accompaniments were played by Miss Dicker. Each soldier was the recipient of a gold medal, and a parcel of comforts was handed to each by the Tuakau branch of the Women's Patriotic League. Supper was partaken of and the hall cleared for dancing The hall was uncomfortably packed, but a most enjoyable timo was spent The dance music was supplied by Misses Geraghty and Leemau and Mr A. H. Tapper, Mr Dynes Fu'tou discharged the duties of M.C. in au thoroughly efficient manner.
