TUAKAU
A MAORI'S DEATH An inquest on the body of a native named Wirimu Hoete, of Hurewai, Port Waikato, who died suddenly at Tuvkau on October 29th at 11-30 p.m. was held on Wednesday last by the District Coroner (Mr Cecil Roadley). The evidence submitted showed that deceased, who was 78 years of age, had been suffering from chest and throat complaint for about a week prior to his death. He arrived at Tuakau from Hurewai, at about 8-30 p.m. on October 28th accompanied by his wife. After reaching Tuakau he purchased some medicine which appeared to do him good. His wife requested him to see a doctor but he refused as in his opinion the medicine was proving beneficial Dr. H. S. Cheeseman gave evidence to the effect that he had made an external examination of the body and found no marks of violence. In his opinion death was due to senile decay, accelerated mainly by the condition of the lungs.
The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
