MANUREWA.
A Red Cross shop was opened at Manurewa on July 2nd. Mrs. Perry, Miss Bessie' Smith, and Mr. Kimber donated vegetables and melons, which met with a ready sale. Furniture was received from Mesdames Craig, Juckes, A. Muir, Bayly, and Johnston, whilst Mesdames C. R. Bailey, Perry and Oram sent books, and Mrs. Landless lemons. Mesdames C'orin and Perry and Miss B. Smith took charge of the premises on the first day, and various ladies have promised to preside at the shop in pairs each Tuesday and Thursday. Musical items and a waltzing competition are to be included in the programme of the Red Cross " Hard-Up " Social to be held in the Manurewa Hall next Friday evening. Mrs. C. R. Bailey is organising the entertainment, and residents are asked to respond with all possible assistance for the good of the cause.
