WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE The monthly meeting of the Buckland Branch of the Women's Patriotic League was held on Wednesday, April 24th, Mrs H B. D. WiJy presiding. Tho following knitted articles were handed in by Mrs McKean : - Socks Mesdamea Driver five pairs, McKean six pairs, Harper four pairs, Grittin two pairs, Avery, Partridge, Barber and Miss Johnston one each ; Miss McKean two pairs, Miss'Tui Curtis one pair. Mittens: Mesdames Partridge and Newton two pairs each. Scarves: Master J. Curtis, Miss Eva Curtis and Mrs Partridge one each. Caps : Miss Doris Avery one. Mrs Avery handed in the following Red Cross work : Mrs Davy, two day shirts and two flannels; Mrs E. Bilkey, one pair pyjamas ; Mrs Neal, one day shirt and three pairs pyjamas ; Mrs H. H. D Wily, one pair pyjamas and one flannel ; Mrs A. P. Home, two day shirts and one flannel; Mrs Partridge, one. day shirt; Mrs Aver 3', one pair pyjamas. The following donations for the Wool Fund were reported : Mrs J K. Hamilton, £1 ; Mrs Jamieson, 14s; Mrs J. Baker, 12s 6d; Mesdames James Wylie, Melville, Neal and Wateihouse, 10* each ; Mrs Carter, 7s fid ; Mesdames Griffin, Davy, King and Rogers, Messrs Butler, F. Condon and Blomfield, 5s each ; " A Friend," 4s fid ; Mesdames Peters and Easton, 4s each ; Mrs W. M. Smith, 3s ; Mesdames Jas. Smith, senr, E. Murray, E. Civil, W. Wallcer, Le Bailly, C. Whitmore, Pollock. Civil, O'Loughlin, Atkin, Johnstone, Kearney, Leighton, Ferguson, Home, Perrin, Messrs D. Smith, T. Murray senr., H. Wilcox, E. Appleby and G. Pulman, 2s 6d each ; Mesdames Tozer, G. Hill, E. Bilkey, R. Wright, and Partridge, Miss Avery and Messrs R. Driver, J. Hewitt, E. Allen, 2s each; Mrs Steele, Is fid; Miss Curtis, Is 2d ; Miss Walsh and Mrs Twidle Is each. At the meeting of the Auckland Education Board on Wednesday a deputation from the Buckland School Committee made a request for increased accommodation at that School and it was resolved to secure a report thereon.
