HARRISVILLE
There was a good attendance at the meeting of householders held at the Harrisville school on Monday last. Seven candidates were nominated for seats on the committee and the balloting resulted in the following being elected :—Messrs J. H. Craig, R. Montgomery, W. Barnaby, Reid Clark, and M. Black. At a subsequent meeting of the Committee Messrs J. H. Craig and Reid Clark were elected Chairman and Secretary respectively.
In the interests of the district it is considered it would be to the advantage of the children attending the school if the present school building was removed to a more central position on the Harrisville road on land knows as "Bycrofts." With this object in view a deputation consisting of Messrs J. H. Craig, W. Barnaby, and Montgomery waited upon the Education Board at their meeting on Wednesday laet and urged that the claims of the district for the removal of the school should be considered by the Board. They pointed out that the present school was too far from the township. The deputation also strongly protested against the recommendations made for the site chosen for the new school on the Pukekohe road, Tuakau. The Board informed the deputation that their requests would be considered and that a further visit would be made to the distiict before a final decision was arrived at with regard to the Pukekohe road site.
