PAPATOETOE

The harvest festival services held in St. John's Church on Sunday last were largely attended. There was an abundance of fruit, vegetables and farm produce-. The Rev C. Porter preached morning and evening. As a result of a special collection taken up towards the church management fund the sum of £35 was realised. All the produce will be forwarded to the Leslie Presbyterian Orphanage. The improvements towards the school ground in the matter of tarring and sanding the area within the school enclosure will be greatly appreciated during this coming winter. Altogether the Education Board have spent £45 on this work and the balance is to be completed in May next. A grant of £2O towards the cycle shed has also been received from the Education Board. Admission is free to all and a first-class programme has been arranged to be given by leading Auckland, Ojahuhu and Onehunga artists, Selections will be plajed prior to opening by the local Scouts Boys' Brass B'ltid, who will be making their first appearance in public.
