ALFRISTON
PAPAKURA ROAD BOARD The usual monthly meeting was iield in the Board's office, Altriston, [on January 29th. Present: Messrs \E. D. McLennan (Chairman), D. A. Reid, J. Embling, W. T. Hall, and the Clerk (Mr H. Moody). An apology was received from Mr J. Trimble for non-attendance. DROOKISY-CI.EYEDON ROAD A communication was received from the Public Works Department asking if the Board intended taking advantage of the grant of £B7 (£l for £1) allocated by the Department to repair slip on the above mentioned read. It was regretted that the Wairoa Road Board would not agree to vote £4O instead of £2O to enable both Boards interested to avail themselves of the grant, more particularly as the road in question was more ad vantgeous to the Wairoa district and it was resolved that the matter bhould be lefc in the hands of the Chairman with two alternatives, viz., either to get the Manukau County Council to take the road over or to get the grant reduced to meet the wishes of the Wairoa Road Board. ITBIRI PARK ESTATE Mr D. A. Reid reported that the Hill road in the above estate had been formed satisfactory and that in conjunction with Mr Hall and the Surveyor (Mr G. A. Martin) it had been agreed that an extra set of pipes should be laid on Hill road, Totara Park Estate. METAL ON FLAT ROAH The metalling of the main road, Papakura to Alfriston, is being proceeded with, 200 yards having been already delivered and a further, contract of 300 yards is being now delivered.—The Clerk was instructed to get the same spread and blinded
SCOKIA CONTRACTS The boundary road between the Papakura Road Board and Manurewa Town Board has received a good coating of scoria the full length of the road and the road known as Lupton's road, leading from the South road to Yardley's corner, has been similiarly treated. The same needs to be well rolled, which will be done when the roller is available. A DEFECTIVE DBAIX The Clerk was instructed to draw the attention of the Manukau County Council to the drain being blocked at the corner of the Public School buildings, Alfriston, the overflow during last year having caused serious damage to the main road, necessitating several loads of metal to effect repairs. BRIDGKS Mr P. A. Reid reported that the bridge on Mill road needed attention and Mr J. Embling reported similarly on bridge at Brookby.—The Chairman whs authorised to order the timber to effect repairs.
