MANUREWA
Otahuhu and Papatoetoebowlerswill be interested to learn tnat Messrs C. E. Hayward, of Hamilton, and Mr Enos Pegler, of Manurewa, both at one time members of the clubs mentioned, annexed the Pairs Competition at the Te Aroha tournament during New Year week. In the semi final and final they were pitted against such champions as Jury and Dutton, of Karanghape, and Waddell and Nakura, of Te Aroha, The final played off against the latter two on the Saturday afternoon, drew a large crowd of spectators. The winners, after a very close game, winning by three points. Mr Hayward is now a member of the Hamilton club, but Mr Pegler, not being able to enthuse sufficient interest in Manurewa, to form a club, has not played bowls for several years. Manurewa is the only district between Papakuia and Auckland that has not its bowling and croquet club and it is therefore to be hoped that some energetic resident will make yet another attempt this autumn or in the coming winter to form such a club in this popular suburb.
