RAGLAN COUNTY ELECTION

The Onewhero Contest. For the Onewhero Riding seat, vacated by Mr D. Moore, Messrs S. H. Crawford and C. E, Walter were the candidates, and the former, who served on the Council up to three years ago when he did not seek reelection, proved successful by 165 votes to 115. Mr Crawford polled 159 votes at the Onewhero polling booth and fi at Wairamarama, his opponent similarly securing 98 and 17. In the Te Akau Riding Mr C. Otway was re-elected ; in the Whaingaroa Riding Mr C. W. Ralfe, the retiring number, was defeated by Mr S. J. Rawlinson ; and new members in the persons of Messrs W. 0. Broughton and W. J. Marx won contests respectively in the Pukemiro and Pirongia ridings, where the late members did not seek re-election.
