SNOWFLAKE CONCERT
Last evening in the Premier Hall, Pukekobe, before another large and appreciative audience the Snow-flake Concert Party repaafed the entertainment they recently gave in aid of the Red Cross fund, the proceeds being again devoted to the same cause. Brilliantly successful as the previous occasion was last night's performance was even more meritorious, each and every vocalist being heard to the greatest possible advantage. The and electrical elfec f s were again highly effective and quite out of the ordinary run for amateur entertainments. In the first portion of the programme songs were rendered by Mrs Ivan Motion, the Misses Gillespie, L. Pilkington, and M. Clarke ; and Messrs A. Brown W. T Jones, J. T. flewson, and C. Bonner, the choruses baing taken up by the other members of the company,, the ladies being grouped to form a pyramid in the centre with the men seated on raised tiers on either side. Part two opened with a swing song, the setting of which formed a charming picture. In this the Mis-es Pilkington, Corbett ani Blake, all dressed most becomingly, occupied swings, to the ropes of which were attached clusters of electric lights, whilst Messrs L. B. Stone, A. Brown and W. T. Jones were the attendants. " The Living Picture" was a new tarn of a novel and sparkling character and proved one of the greatest hits of the evening, the artists being Miss Margaret Martin and Master Leslie Roadley. young performers, both wearing handsome Court costumes of white silk, first appeared as "set" in picture frames. Descending from the same they prettily danced a minuet, at the same time singing an appropriate ballard, and then resumed their former positions as the centres of the pictures. Again and again the delighted audience demanded encores and these were duly responded to. Another particularly attractive item was the rendering of "Bring me a Rose" by Miss Clarke, her voice being so expressive and clear that every word of the song was distinctly heard, whilst the chorus gave scope for some smart by-play. The remainder of the programme was also of its former excellence. The entertainment was designed by Miss Clarke, whoso mastermind and power of organisation were manifested t> a degree with most happy results. Mr J. G. Russell ably controlled arrangements as stage manager and Mr \V. S. Russell was responsible for the electrical effects.
