PATUMAHOE.

A very successful concert and dance organised by Messrs Howard, Pleydell and Kavanagh took place in the Patumahoe Public Hall last Friday evening with the object of raising funds to provide a one thousand candle power benzine light to be erected in the centre square of the township. As a result a satisfactory sum, somewhere in the vicinity of £ 10, was raised towards the object in view The concert was provided by local talent, supplemented by ladies from Pukekohe and Waiuku, the items rendered receiving enthusiastic encores. The performers were Misses Clarke and O'Connor (Pukekohe) and McGregor (Waiuku), and Messrs Hay, Queenin and Barton (Mauku). Miss Baily and Miss Hay proved efficient accompanists. Mr Henry presided at the concert, which was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem. The hall was then cleared for dancing which was kept up with zest until the "wee sma' hours," the dancers being sustained by the plentiful supper and tasty refreshments provided. The fine set of new benzine lights recently installed in the hall and which were in use for the first time at trie entertainment were the subject of general commendation.
