TUAKAU.
A most successful social was held on Thursday last by the Tuakau Branch of the Women's Patriotic League to bid farewell to Pte. Ernest Lee, who is going iuto camp. The chairman (Mr Dynes Fulton) spoke in glowing terms of the fighting qualities of the Lee family, this being the fourth son to enlist for active service. Mr and Mrs Lee also, he said, had two grandsons at the front Pte Lee was presented with a parcel of comforis from the Women's Patriotic League and with a wiistlet watch from the Tuakau Patriotic League. The programme was contributed to by Miss L. McGahan (pianoforte soio), Mrs Taylor, Mrs Harrison, Miss Foulke3, Messrs fl. Outred, E. Lee, E. Kovell, Ryder (2), X. Patterson (songs) and Miss M. Woodbridge and Mr Deeble (recitations', Miss L. McQahn and Master Reid Clarke (pianoforte duet), the accompanists being Mrs Hunter and the Misses M. Geraghty and F. Dickeus. Supper was provided by League members and dancing followed, the music being kindly supplied by Miss Geraghty and Mr A. H. Tapper. Mr I). Fulton acted as M.U. The proceeds of the evening amounted to £7 3s Gd.
