Tapper's Pharmacy every Tuesday and Friday evenings.] PATRIOTIC LEAGUE ANNUAL MEETING There was a large attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Tuakau Patriotic League held on Monday last. Mr Deeble's period of office as President having expired he announced that he did not offer himself for re-election. Mr Dynes Fulton, being the only person nominated, was duly elected President and took the chair. The Rev. W. Butterworth, Messrs W. G. Graham and J. H. Craig were elected Vice-Presi-dents.

On the motion of the President votes of thanks were accorded the Ladies League for the generous assistance rendered at all times during the year. Thanks were also accorded Messrs Revell and Craig for the use of the hall and sports ground respectively. Mr J. H. Quinlan was reelected secretary and treasurer, and Messrs Osbourne and Tapper were re-elected auditors. Ihe retiring General Committee was re-elected and an Executive Committee consisting of ten members of the League was appointed. The balance sheet for the year ending the 30th September last was presented by the hon. secretary. This showed that the League started with a credit balance of £B6 18s 8d and receipts were Children's Fair (£75 0s 6d), sports and picnic (£206 19s sd) and other receipts£l9 5s lid making a total of £3BB 4s 6d. Payments made were: A.W.P.L. (Tuakau) £25, Dominion Gift Fund £BS, Y.M.C.A., Auckland, £SO, Chap.Captn. McDonald £SO 10s and the following expenses : Children's Fair £l7 7s 10d,sport8 and picnic£ss lis 2d, wristlet watches, etc., £3O 5s 6d, sundries £5 0s 6d, total £328 los, leaving a balance in hand of £59 9s 6d.—The balance-sheet as presented was adopted.

Under the supervision of the Board's engineer (Mr J. Eoutly) the work of improving the street from the post office to the sale yards in Liverpool street is now being undertaken, the contract being in the hands of Mr F. Denyer. Not only will the paths be kerbed and channelled but other improvements are to be effected which are calculated to add to the attractiveness of the township.
