DRURY

PTE WALLACE BREMNER FAREWELLJU) Recently Pte Wallace Bremner, who was back on final leave, was the guest of the Patriotic Committee and was accorded a social evening of a very enjoyable nature. The function was presided over by Mr J. Flanagan. Musical items and dancing formed the chief attractions. Speeches were given by sevtral of the Committee and the guest suitably responded. The musicians were Messrs Cossey and Morgan, the M.C. Mr W. Tooman, the organiser and secretary Mr John Quinn. At a similar valedictory tendered by the Bible Classes, of which Pte Bremner was a member, the Rev Hales, who presided, on behalf of the Classes presented the departing soldier with a soldier's companion. Many fine things were said during the evening, and the response of Pte Bremner was pithy and in good taste. A tine supper provided by the Indies was a pleising item and altogether a most enjoyable evening was spent. Mr T. Cummings, secretary, assisted by Mr W. Brooks, worked hard to make the function the success it was. Pte Wallace Bremner is the third son of Mr Wm Bernner to don the khaki. One son (Douglas) has made the supieme sacrifice, having fallon for his country. Another son (Eric) is now a Captain, and has been wounded several times but is backagain at the Front in France The Drury people are proud of such a patriotic family.
