The balance of £1 7s 6d was raised by the children's efforts in the sale of sundries, etc. A concert was given in the Public Hall on Monday night last by the members of the Albert Symphony Orchestra, under the auspices of the Otahuhu Patriotic Committee. Mr Harold Hardey conducted the orchestra, which gave several musical items. Miss Myrtle Blakev (soprano), Mr Tom Dunningham (bass) and Mr Dan Mount (humorist) also assisted in the entertainment. There was a fair attendance, and His Worship the Mayor (Mr A. McDonald) presided. The party was conveyed froip and to town by charabanc. On Sunday last the Otahuhu Methodist Church had a record attendance the occasion being the Children's Sunday School Anniversary and old friends and scholars attending from Manurewa to Mt Albert. The singing of the children under the able, tutorship of Mr A. Trenwith was a marked feature of the day. Addresses were given both morning and afternoon by the Kev G. Cox, of Auckland, and in the evening by the Rev W. G. Slade. Solos by Miss Alice Eimmer at morning and afternoon services were highly appreciated by all present. The children were complimented on their good behaviour, and such a crowd of healthy and hearty boys and girls ranging from infancy to well advanced youths and maidens augurs well for the coming manhood and womanhood of the Otahuhu district.
