PATUMAHOE.
TENNIS CLUB FORMED. A meeting of those interested in the formation of a Tennis Club was Held in the Patumahoe Public hall on Friday evening last. The following were appointed the Executive : President. Mr W. Pleydell ; secretary and treasurer, Mr Barton and auditor, Mr J. Henry. It was decided to purchase half an acre of land from' Mr W. Howard which is very suitable for tennis courts and bowling green. The position of this site is excellent and the committee are proceeding forthwith with the fencing and formaof the asphalt courts so as to be ready for the opening of the tennis season. It is intended later to provide a bowling green. A considerable sum of money is in hand which was raised just previous to the war the then promoters having decided to discontinue their eiljrts until the war terminated. This money, with members subscriptions, will give the new undertaking a good start. The interest evinced by a large number of young people coupled with the energy of Mr Barton affords every promise of the club being a success and in operation at an early date.
