BOMBAY
ME AND MRS COEBETT FARE WELLED A very successful concort and dance was held in the Bombay hall as a farewell to Mr and Mrs Corbett on Monday, September 24th. The chairman (MrH. Sa'wyer) on behalf of the residents as also of the school children and Tennis Club, presented Mr and Mrs Corbett with a silver teaseivice Mr Corbett, in a neat speech, suitably acknowledged the gift. Mr Best spoke as representing the Bombay Patriotic Committee, of which Mr Corbett was a very energetic worker, and Mr G Common, in the name of the School Committee, and Mr Proud, on behalf of the Tennis Club, also paid tribute to Mr Corbett's good services. Songs were rendered by Mesdames George, Grattan and Vaughan, the Misse's Gauntlett, Beaney and Gallery, Messrs L. Wilson, Vaughan, J. Brown, G. Morgan, and C. Elder, Sergt-Major McDowell, and School Children (songs); Miss N. McCowen, Messrs Blako and Ramsay (instrumental trio); Miss Myrtle Wootton and Mr E. Balme (recitations). Misses McCowen, Brown, and Gallery play?d the accompaniments. A very enjoyable dance followed, Miss Janet Watson and Mr Ramsay kindly supplying the dance music while Mr G. Roger acted as M.C.
Another old Bombay resident passed away at his residence in Portsmouth road on October Ist in person of Mr W. Vince, at the ripe age of 85. Deceased was well-known in the early days in cricketing circles.
