KARAKA ROAD BOARD MERGING APPROVED OF At a special meeting of the Karaka Road Board held on Saturday last there were present Messrs J. Batty (chairman), D. Jamieson, J. Schlaepfer, J. Macphersjn and Bryant with the Clerk (Mr H. E, Glasson). The meeting having been called to further consider the question of merging, the Chairman reported that he had met representatives of the Franklin County Council when the financial position of the Board was explained and it was decided by the Council that provided certain negotiations were entered into between them the Council would take over the Road Board's plant and liabilities. After some informal discussion, Mr D. Jamieson proposed, and Mr Macpherson seconded, and it was unanimously agreed that the Board should merge. It was arranged that a petition from the ratepayers of the Karaka Road District in favour of such merging shonld be circulated.
