PAPAKURA

A farewell social and dance was given to Pte. Percy Schmidt, on final leave, in the Picture Hall on Friday last The programme started with picttues and then songs were given bv Messrs Drake (Auckland), Luke Wilson (Pukekohe), and Harris (Auckland), Mrs Swears acting as accompanist. The Bev W. C. Wood, on behalf of the Farewell Committee, presented the guest of the evening with an order to purchase a keepsake to serve as a token of the esteem in which he is held. Mr Tuelly also spoke. Supper was served by Mesdames Campbell and Wilson and Miss Q. Bullen. Dancing was then freely enjoyed, the music being supplied by Mr and Mr* Lumby, and Messrs W. J. Bowe and Percy Bullen proved efficient M C's.
