TUAKAU

The boring operations at the Waikato 00.-op. Dairy Company's new butter factory at Tuakau resulted last Friday in a plentiful supply of water being struck and made available for requirements. A most successful concert was held last Thursday by the Tuakau Branch of the Womens' Patriotic League, to bid farewell to Mr Archie Lockhart, who is proceeding to camp. Mr W. J. Deeble, the newly elected chairman of the Patriotic League, presented the departing guest with a parcel of comforts from .the Women's League and a wristlet wajch from the local Patriotic League. The gross takings amounted to £b 12s 6d. Supper was provided by the ladies in their usual style. Recitations were given by Miss M. Woodbridge and Mr Robinson, and songs weie sung by Messrs Titmus, Outred, Robinson, Mrs Taylor and Miss Herrick. During the interval an address was del vered by the Rev •Butterworth. After the concert the hall was cleared for dancing. The Patriotic League held a mott successful meeting on Saturday, the 8;h inst, the principal business being in connection with the Roll of Honour to be erected in the Hall in memory ot those brave lads who have gone to the front. A small committee was appointed to proceed to Auckland to see if possible some suitable honours board, with the result that a fine piece of work has been ordered. The Waikato Co-operative Dairy Coy's new factory is nearing completion and a start with butter making is to be made next Friday. It is understood that the Prime Minister will officially o| eu the factory next month. We are glad to see that Mr B. O. Geraghty 1 «has from the hospital looking younger and better as a result of the good treatment he received there.
