CLEVEDON.
WAIROA ROAD BOARD The usual monthly meeting of the Wairoa Road Boaid wss held at Clevedon on Monday last, the members present being Messrs A. D. Bell (chairman), J. Luke, W. Duder, J. McConaughy and the clerk, Mr A. £. Bailey. » OLD WAIROA ROAD * Mr Luke reported that he had inspected the ditch which Mr McLennan had filled in on the old Wairoa road and thought that the £5 as promised by the Board should be paid towards the cost of the work. On the motion of Mr Bell, seconded by Mr Duder, it was agreed to pay the £5 CLEVEDON-BROOKBY ROAD As various improvement works on this road were being contemplated by the Papakura and Wairoa Road Boads it was resolved to vote the sum of £2O towards the works MERGING 01-" BOARD In accordance with his notice of motion Mr Luke moved that the Board should take the necessary steps to merge the Board into the Council. Mr Duder seconded. On the motion being put to the meeting Messrs Bell, Duder and Luke voted and Mr J. McConaughy " against." The motion was therefore declared carried.
It was agreed that the members of the Board should wait upon the ratepayers with petitions lor signatures for- merging the Board into the Council. , FIKAXCK Accounts amounting to £76 were passed for payment. The heavy rain on Sunday night last caused a heavy flood on the lowlying parts of the district, some of the settlers losing stock thereby, owing to the sudden way in which the waters rose.
