A letter was received from Mr 11. Shepherd, of Winter's Estate, re the overflow of water from an open drain \ on tho road on to his property and I ho also asked as to the size of pipes required to be put in the open drain as he intended to make a permanent entrance into his property. Miss Collick attended and informed tho Board that sho had had i the road between her property and Mr Ivenah's ploughed at her own i expense and she asked the Board to ! grade and form tho road. It was agreed that Mr H. Masters should be asked to completo tho formation as requested by Miss Collick. The ■ matter of putting on scoria was left over until summer weather.
Miss Collide also made complaint of the bad stato of the road to her property past Messrs Kimpton's and Feist's. There were, she said, large holes in tho road.—The Board decided to supply the scoria if the ratepayers who use tho road did the work of repairing. Labour, it was explained, was hard to get and in many parts of tho district the ratepayers were assisting tho Board in that way. A cheque for £2l was received from Mr T. Ellison towards the formation of the road at Spring Hill. The Chairman and Mr White reported that many of the bridges and culverts were badly in need of repairs and it was resolved that the Clerk should order 20 hardwood planks to bo used for repairs to bridges and culverts. The recent heavy rains had washed all the scoria and metal away into the creeks. —On the m tion of Mr Wallace, seconded by Mr White, Mr Waters was given authority to liavo the road put in order and picked stone to be se< ured from Lushmgton's Mountain for idling and scoria to lie supplied for blinding. Mr Waters reported that nothing had been done by the owner of the property adjoining Mr Eccles' as to clearing the gor.se and noxious weeds off the roads in front of the property.- It was decided to inform the owner that action must bo takon.
