PAPAKURA ROAD BOARD The usual monthly meeting of tho j Papakura Road Board was held in 1 the Board's olfice, Alfriston, on | Monday last, the members being; present, viz., Messrs E. I). McLen- | nan (chairman), I). A. Reid, J. j Trimble, W. T. Hall, and J. Emb- : ling, wi'h the Clerk (Mr H. Moody). COMFI.AIXTS Mr J. M. Wedding wrote complaining of ruts in Flat road, whilst ■ Messrs Grieve and G. Morgan made i similar complaints of Myer's road.— j Referred to tho consideration of the ' respective ward members for re- I ports. SANITARY DEPOT An application for a night soil depot wis declined by tho Board. The following resolution was unanimously carried: " That this Board disapproves of any night soil being brought within the Board's boundary from an outside district." Mr Trimble reported that he had j ordered, through the Clerk, three j trucks of metal from the gaol for urgent work anil also that the tro« s | complained of in Redoubt road had been removal. ' i
W V U I.'IA.N | Tin' Chairman brought forward' tho subject of assisting the Liberty War Loan and suggested that the] Hoard should take up l' 100 of script, , pointing out that good help could be , given to the cause by local bodies at : comparative small individual cost. 1 'lhe Clerk was instructed to ascertain tho legal position in tho matter . and tho Chairman gavo notice of motion to movo at tho next meeting j that tho Board should subscribe to ; the Liberty War Loan. \X UN 1 >Kl>l' ATKH KOAIt 1
The < 'hairman reported that he had waited on Messrs Wynyard, Skelton and Wilson re the dedication of the road through Atchinson Olivers' estate and it was resolved that the Board should forward all information as requested, to enable tho road to be legalised. Great surprise »as expressed that the main arterial load through the district to Whitford, after being open for considerably over 10 years, had not boon proporly legalised. I iR A IXA'tE The Chairman reported as to the result of the conference re drainage held at Papakura on August 20th, to the effect that a committee had been appointed to define boundaries, to report to a further meeting. -i OltIA RAILWAY I.IXK A discussion took placo on tho j advisability of raising the royalty on Fcoria on tho lailway line, owing to ! the extra expense incurred by the ' Board in getting extension of timo , to remove s imo, I II was resolved that boulders bo •is and fine scoria Is per two yard load.
