RUNCIMAN
A FAREWELL SOCIAL A large gathering of friends and neighbours assembled in "the Barn" last week to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs R. H. Clark and family, who have sold their farm and are leaving the district, chiefly for health reasons, to reside at Onehunga. A capital programme of musical items, songs, recitations, games, etc., was carried through alternated with dancing. Occasion was taken by Mrs F. Ballard, on behalf of the Rama Kama and Tuhimata Ladies' Guild, to present Mrs Clark, who has been a most energetic worker, with a silver teapot, suitably inscribed, while a few immediate neighbours showed their goodwill to Mr Clark by handing him a gold mounted amber cigarette holder. Mr F. P. Langford very suitably expressed the sentiments of the gathering in wishing Mrs Clark many a ''good brew" and Mr Clark many "good whiffs" in their future home.
Mr F. Ballard, in a few well chosen words, referred to the sterling qualities of the departing guests, who had for many years been his adjoining neighbours and lie mentioned that he had known Mr Clark from boyhood. The refreshments were in the capable hands of the ladies and, as usual, deserve commendation. Mr Steele very ably supplied the music (piano) for the dancing, extras being played by Mr F Ballard (concertina) and Mr T. Crooks (accordeon).
