STOCK SALE REPORTS.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report as follows: At Pukekohe on Monday we held a special dairy sale. There was a large yarding and prices were on a par with late sales. Best dairy cows, heifers £l2 to £l7 10s, others £8 10s to £ll 10s; aged and inferior cowp, £3 to £7 10s. On Tuesday, at Pukekohe, we held our monthly store and beef sale. There was an average yarding, which sold at late rates. Three to 3i -year steers, £l2 2s 6d to £l3 7s 6d ; 2 to steers, £9 10s to £lO 17s 6d ; yearling to 18months steers, £6 Ids to £8 17s 6d ; steer calves, £3 15s to £6 5s ; heifer calves, £3 to £5 ; yearling to 18months heifers, £5 7a 6d to £7 15s; empty cows and heifers, £6 5s to £8 17s 6d ; bulls, £7 to 15s ; beef at fully Westfield prices The advertised hoggets realised 18s.
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons Ltd, report:— On Wednesday, at our weekly Westfield fat stock market, our supply of beef totalled 279 head, comprising 174 steers, 102 cows and heifers, and 8 bulls. There was a strong demand, with values very firm, at last week's advanced rates. Choice ox sold to £2 10s per 1001b ; prime ox, £2 7s to £2 9s ; plain and rough, £1 18s to £2 -ss; cows and keiferf, £2 3s to £2 7s. Steers ranged in price from £l3 10s to £2O 2s 6d (no heavy cattle offered) ; cows and heifers, £9 to £l6 2s 6d. The highest averages for steers included 16 from Mr Benj. Reed, Waerenga, £l9 12s 6d ; 12 from Mr Isaac Gray, Gray's Farm, Papatoetoe, £lB 17a 6d. The sheep pens were moderately filled and included several lines of light and unfinished sheep. Competition was keen for all classes, especially prime mutton and last week's advance was sustained in all departments. Heavy prime wethers, £2 2s to £2 4s 9d ; no extra heavy prime penue 1; 57 prime wethers from Messrs Urqutiart Bros, Karaka, averaged £2 4s Id, and 69 ewes from the same vendors, £1 18s 2d; medium to heavy prime wethers, £1 17s to £2 Is; light and unfinished, £1 12s to £1 16s; best heavy prime ewes, £1 15s to £1 19s 9d ; good ewes, £1 10s to £1 14s 6d ; other ewes, £1 4s to £1 9s. (1251 sold). There was an average entry of lambs, the major portion being uniinishtd ; no prime lambs penned ; good lambs, £1 5s to £1 6s 9d ; others, £1 2s to £1 4s ; small lambs, 18s to £1 Is. (409 sold). Fat and young calves were penned in full mi-übeis and sold at late rates. Runners made from £6 10s to £l3 108, for a choice t>vo-year-old heifer from Mr J. 8. Fitch, Karaka; eight from the ®au e owner averaged £ll 7s 6d ; heavy vealeis, £5 7s 6d to £6 2s 61 ; medium, £3 4sto £4 lis ; light, £2 5s to £3 3s; small and freshdropped, OS to £2. (80 sold) Pigs came forward in average numbers and advanced on late lugh prices. Choppers and heavy baconers made from £4 15s to £5 ss; others, £3 15s to £-) 10s ; large porkers, £3 ;>s to £3 lis; medium, i2 10s to £3; small, £1 15s to £2 8s ; slips, Jtl 5s to£l 13s; weanors and suckers, Is to 14s. (230 sold).
