RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL

At the bi-monthly meeting of the Raglan County Council, held at the County offices, Ngaruawahia, on Wednesday last, there were present Crs Campbell Johnstone (Chairman), J. R. Lowry, A. McKinnon, D. A. Moore, W. Wilson, C. W. Ralfe, W. Seavill, G. B. Morrison, C. C. Otway, with the Clerk (Mr H. Marsland). ONEWIIERO-WAIRAMARAMA ROAD The Minister of Public Works (the Hon W. Fraser) verote that he was advised that the proposal to form a special rating district in connection with the proposed deviation of the Onewhero-Wairamarama road was again defeated at the second poll of ratepayers and as the result of a special report received he was unable to allow any portion of the metalling subsidy of £3OOO to be expended. The letter was received. Mr John Martindale, Onewhero,, wrote drawing attention to the overflow of water turned on his farm from the road as a good deal of damage had been done. The matter was referred to the chairman. RANGIRIBI BRIDGE. A letter was received from Mr W. J. Stone, Rangiriri, stating that as a result of a meeting held of residents of the district it was desired to hold an official opening of the new bridge over the Waikato and he asked the Council to assist in such opening.. Th« chairman intimated that he thought an official opening of the bridge was kardly necessary during the war period. BRIDGE AX NGARtTA WAIIIA. The Waikato County Council (Hamilton) notified the Council that they had entered a protest to the Minister relative to the width of the above bridge which it was urged should be increased from 12ft to 18ft and had asked the Government to pay its proportion of the increased cost. WAIKATO HOSPITAL LEVY. The secretary (Mr W. I. Conradi) Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board notified that the levy for the year to the 31st March 1918, amounted to £1225 18s,
