J A basket social was held in tho j Maungutnwhiri School on Friday last in aid of the piano fund Owing to the dull night there was not a big attendance, but those jthat were present thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Mr R. ,G. P« ndergrast carried out tho duties of M C. in his uusual capable manner. Mis McKonzio and Miss Moyos suppliod tho music. Those socials are run in connection with the Farmers' Union, and it is a pity that inoro members of the Union do not attend. The next gathering will be held in a month's time.
